At West Hoathly Primary School we like to think of ourselves as a family school with strong links to the local community. As part of our school, your child and your family will very soon get to know everyone: teachers, teaching assistants, domestic staff and administration staff, and of course all the other children. We make a friendly and hard-working team.
At West Hoathly School we aim to:
Raise standards of achievement for all pupils.
Develop increasing independence and self-discipline in children.
Help children to experience a feeling of community within our school, to recognise the value of their place within it and that of others.
Create and foster a Christian learning environment in which each child is stimulated and encouraged to achieve his or her full potential.
From the time that you accept a place at the school, you are welcome to take as big a part in your child's education as you wish. We welcome offers of help either regular or occasional and we often need volunteers to support work in the classroom, accompany classes on walks and outings, even to join us on a self-help project like clearing the pond or a painting working party.
Families are invited to a variety of events during the year including school services at St Margaret's Church, performances of different kinds, social and fund-raising events among others.
We have a thriving School Association where parents and carers come together to enjoy a broad spectrum of events. Many involve the whole family while others are for school age children, and occasionally we enjoy socials for adults only.
Your views are also canvassed on a variety of topics either through informal discussions with staff around the school or through questionnaires to families. Over the years a number of improvements to our services and procedures have been initiated by ideas from parents and carers.
